My Holiday Canned Response: "No, I Don't Have A Boyfriend, I'm Not Sure What Career Path I'm On, and Yes, I'm 26"

The holidays are upon us. While I'm excited to catch up with family and friends I haven't seen in awhile, I'm already dreading the inevitable deluge of questions about what's going on in my life.
Last week, I was at the grocery store and happened to notice the cover of People Magazine: Kim Kardashian at 30: "I thought I'd be married by now." I caught myself thinking, "I feel you gfri."
Although I've still got a few years to go before the big 3-0, if you'd asked me at 18 where I thought I'd be at 26, it wouldn't have been anywhere close to where I am.
I grew up expecting to have a career, a house, a car, a man, and (quite possibly) some kids by the time I was 30 or so. While I'm very happy with my job and the career path I am on, the other components of my life leave something to be desired. And, since I don't date (i.e. go out to dinner with men I don't know, get set-up on blind dates etc.), I guess I am leaving the romantic part of my life up to the powers that be (or to my students who attempt to make any man they deem attractive my new boyfriend).  This requires a certain combination of patience and hope. Recently, I have maintained neither...hence the reason I am putting all of this on 'paper' so I can stop thinking about it and maybe avoid some of the holiday questioning.
The fact is, working two jobs, driving all over the place, keeping my exercise routine going, and just dealing with the random things life throws at me leaves very little time (and more importantly, energy) for 'the man hunt' (as I liked to call it in college). Maybe this is the reason websites like Match.com are so popular. In being so busy, have we effectively cut out some of the time that once went to real life socializing and replaced it with Facebook stalking? I am definitely guilty as charged.
